Say no to drugs. Say yes to your future.
India doesn’t have a shortage of dreams. Every street, every classroom, every rooftop has big ambitions — a girl who wants to crack the UPSC, a boy who wants to start his own workshop, a teenager who wants to be the first in his family to wear a graduation gown. It is not dreams which are short in supply.
What is short in supply is “wakefulness” — the youth who are not awake enough to actually chase them.
Today, right now, thousands of the young Indians are not falling behind due to lack of talent, they are falling behind due to the lack of a future — one smoke, one pill, one bottle at a time!
This is not a headline in some other distant city. This is not somebody else’s tragedy. This is unfolding in our own neighbourhoods, our own hostels, our own homes at this very moment — entering quietly and patiently.
THE QUESTION WE FORGET TO ASK
We love to ask grand questions like, “Who will lead our country in the future?”, Who will build our roads in 2047?, who will write code for the software, who will run our Parliament, lead our armies and, teach our future generations.
But we forget to ask one simple question which is of great urgency :
“Will that youth even be awake by then?”
Will he even be alive, awake and present enough, or will he be lost in the haze of smoke and depression? Will he be physically present in a classroom and be lost in his mind?
Will he be asleep in addiction — lost in numbness, running from addiction instead of building it? Then who will lead our country?
Drugs dont check for your marksheet before they ruin you. Neither do they check your family reputation nor your childhood dreams. They come in silently, dressed as “peer pressure”, disguised as curiousity, and through the four most dangerous words that the young minds can hear :
“Just try it once”
But that one moment, that one careless “once” will steal away your entire lifetime.
A NATION IS NOT BUILT ON CONCRETE
A nation is measured on its GDP, it’s skyscrapers and industries. But in truth, a nation is just made on buildings and bridges, it is made on the strength, potential and the determination of its youth.
India often calls itself “young”. More than half of our population is below thirty. And this is what our economists call a biggest strength to India over all the oldest economies across the globe. But if left unguarded and unprotected, then what is called biggest strength will turn into our biggest weakness.
WHAT CAN WE ACTUALLY DO?
First : Remember that saying “NO” is the loudest form of strength!
It takes a lot of courage to sit in a room full of friends, looking at their expectations and saying, “NO, I WONT”. It doesn’t make you boring, uncool or weak. It is self – respect in its bravest face.
Second : If you know a friend who is struggling, then don’t mock him. Don’t cast him out.
Addiction is not just a character flaw. It might often be due to pain, pressure and loneliness hidden behind a habit. What he needs is not judgement, he needs support – a hand lent, not withdrawn.
He need access to treatment and most importantly someone who still believes in him and his recovery.
A person fighting addiction is not weak, he is wounded. And wounds can heal if we let them. With proper care and support he can recover and rebuild his life.
NOT JUST SLOGANS
And this is what Nasha Mukt Yuva Bharat truly means.
It is not just some poster on a government office wall or a slogan raised once a year and forgotten by the evening.
It means each one of us deciding today, that we stand straight and will not let our generation fade away into addiction and lose its potential.
We have a choice.
Not just today.
Not just someother day.
Everyday we have a choice.
We don’t want to see India’s future sitting on hospital beds instead of classrooms. We don’t want to see a single future doctor, astraunaut, teacher, IAS officer waste their dreams.
IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY

A drug free youth is not merely India’s dream.
It is the future of India.
It is the responsibility of India.
It is the survival of India.
